Sahara in her new high chair

Out with the old, and in with the new...this is the weekend for Sahara moving on up!! Here she is in her new high chair...this is so smart because she can use it everywhere: travel, restaurants, home! It's genius!!

It's official---Sahara is a BIG girl!

Our doc said it was time to take Sahara from her infant car seat and put her in a big girl car seat!! She is loving it and I'm excited to be using the paisley print now:). Can't wait till she Starts understanding how to use the cup holder:)
Here are pics of Kabir setting up the new seat.

Saying farewell to the oldie...doesn't she look so big in it!?:)

Reading time with Grandpa

Sahara has been having a lot of fun playing with her Grandpa on our visit to DC. Here's a picture of them having reading time.

Sahara playing with her new toys from Grandma and Grandpa

We went to one of the oldest toy stores in DC today called Child's Play and found so many cute things for Sahara. Her first puzzle, safari animals of course, a book about sushi (to teach her about what her daddy loves), her first wooden toy, a fun jungle interactive book and more!

Thank you grandparents!

My attempt to show you her first tooth coming in...

She just won't let me do it...but I tried:)

Sahara out for lunch with Lily:)

It's so cool that Sahara is starting to catch up to Lily, who is 13 months...next thing you know you won't be able to tell the difference:). Lots of playdates in the future for them!!:)

Sahara deep into her book:)

This was right before we retired this chair she never really liked anyway:). I just thought it was cute seeing her look like she was reading:)
Doesn't she look like she is flipping pages?

Let's see...who does Sahara look like??:)

Signing times

Yesterday, Kabir and I took a class to learn 50 signs to start teaching Sahara. I've heard that when a child learns two languages it takes them a little while to start speaking. It's also just good for communication between parent and child and avoids the child's aggravation of not being understood:) We are excited to start doing this so now you'll know what we are doing if you see us signing:).
*kabir of course learned everything really easily so I'm glad we went together:)

As you can see Sahara was busy playing during the class. I love how her dress is just falling off! Too funny!!:)

Sahara & Lily playing with balls at storytime/playtime

The sites and blogs every mommy/daddy should be following for deals

Now that I am a mommy I've started to realize that it's smarter to get things borrowed, second hand, or sale/deals.  Babies grow out of everything so quickly.  I've learned about great sites online and through friends at play dates and baby groups so I thought I'd share the ones I know and love.  What sites do you use?

zulily: It's like a Gilt Groupe for mommy's and babies:)  Right now they have Nicole Miller for girls available!  Everything is too cute!

Mom Finds:  This is a site connected to She Finds and they are all about finding great deals!

buy buy Baby:  One of my favorite kids/baby stores!  Plus, they are connected to Bed Bath & Beyond so you can use those 20% coupons you get in the mail here too!:)

hopscout: Daily deal site for baby items.

Baby Steals: This is a great site and you can download their iphone app which I LOVE!  Daily deal emails sent for brand name baby items!

Amazon Mom: Just found out about this through my friend today!  You sign up for free and if you do auto delivery of your diapers you get 30% off and free shipping in 2 days!

Blogs:

Bargain Babe: Find out about coupons and freebies daily!

My City Mommy: I am ADDICTED to this daily email with a ton of deals and freebies!

Smart & Trendy Moms: Get the scoop on what's hot!

Sahara at story time at the Downtown library in Tucson

I was excited to see Sahara respond well to story time today.  It was her second time at a story time, but the first time was right before Christmas and she was too young to really respond.  I plan on making this a week activity and I can't wait to see how she starts to like books and responding to the songs & activities.  (I will also be able to learn some of these songs I don't know:)
The other cool thing is that randomly there are 3 other half Indian girls in the story time that we will be going to!  I LOVE it!  And, I'm going to be going with my friend Lauren and her daughter Lily so it will be a chance for me to hang out with a friend which is a win, win situation.
Here are a few books I decided I had to have for Sahara, and me today:)

The BEST book you can get for your  baby right now!! So many different stories and none will tear, you can wash and they are just cute!:)

and some more fashiony books for baby:)

Supposed to be eating

This is too funny! Exhausted after a long day, Sahara is eating her dinner and chatting...at the end she started to get irritated, but right when I turned off the phone she finished her entire meal:) Guess she wanted it to just be her and I for dinner:)

Waving hello

She just woke up so that is why her hair is everywhere:) But, she LOVES waving now...it's kind of fun...and as I share in the video...she is looking at herself in the mirror. Just like her daddy:)

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

Bugaboo strollers + Missoni, a match made in heaven!

Yes, you read right. In July of this year little babies strollers will be Missoni chic and not for too much.
"The collaboration comes in two variations: a block print on the Bugaboo Cameleon sun canopy and bassinet apron (which retails for $269), and a zigzag print on the Bugaboo Bee sun canopy (which retails for $199). Each version comes with a knitted Missoni blanket." (Fashion etc) Read the rest of the information here. Maybe, by the time my second comes they will be on sale:) lol

Update: FOUND, the Indian inspired summer sunsuit for ONLY $12.99 at Target!

Friends and family! I am beyond excited! After sulking about not getting the $48 Camel, Indian sunsuit I went to Target to pick up diapers and spotted the Calypso St. Barths for Target line for kids and they had exactly what I wanted! They were sold out at the store I went to, but I'm going somewhere else tomorrow and getting it:)

Just learned...

There are Pediatric Emergency Rooms...good to know!

Baby Gear + New mommy blogs I'm loving

I'm in love with this item and had to share...even though it's $48 and I know in the real world it's not smart to buy since Sahara is growing so fast and already wearing 12-18 month clothing (she's only 8 months!). So, I'll just look for a look a like inspired by this adorable camel, Indian print at Old Navy:)

The blogs:
I keep finding such cute items for baby and me on Macaroon Original , she is a previous editor and boutique owner with two kids that is all about finding unique items for the basics (which I totally agree with!). And I'm checking out A Mom I'm Red High Heels to be inspired by how a mommy can remain fab even after having kids!:)

Sharing is Caring Mother's Day Promo Codes

Just received this in my email and had to share:)

My new bag: the diaper bag

My new bag I'm always lusting after believe it or not is a diaper bag. Many of my favorite designers are creating fab bags for mommies so we can avoid carrying those hideous diaper bags I always cringed at pre-baby:)
Today, I spotted a new diaper bag to add to my list and had to share: the Knocked up bag by Rebecca Minkoff. Now, I know it's a pretty penny, but you'll be using it for at least 3 years after baby is born. And, they make diaper bags convertible now so you can use them after baby duty is over:)

Dedicated Post to Erica

This is how my downstairs usually looks, well most of the time:)

Green Thumb Starting Young

I saw on the Nate Berkus show that having indoor plants like Janet Craig, Peace lily, Mother in laws tongue remove carbon monoxide improving indoor air quality for babies and of course, us. So, I put it on my to do list to get this checked into right away and knew Kabir would love taking his little one to participate in something he loves, gardening.:) Here are some pictures from our green adventure.

I love how he is holding her here:)LOL She's like what is up with this?!

Ok, this way you can just see the video:)

BOHEMIA - Sahara

I was so excited when I found this!  The rapping reminds me of French rap.

Language: Punjabi
Main Concept: This guy is singing about liking this girl named Sahara!!  Love it!  Pyar=love:)
